Richard Steele has served as the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner since 2011. He joined the Tax Commissioner’s Office in 2005, and has held progressively responsible positions including Tag Office Manager, Property Tax Director, and Chief Deputy Tax Commissioner.
Prior to that, Richard worked as Operations Manager for the UGA Campus Transit System and as a Budget Analyst for the Centers for Disease Control.
Richard earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia, and is a graduate of Leadership Gwinnett. He is the immediate past-president of the Tax Commissioners' Technology Development Council of Georgia and serves on the legislative committee for the Georgia Association of Tax Officials. He is also a member and past-president of the Rotary Club of Lawrenceville.
