Millage Rates

Property is taxed according to millage rates assessed by different government entities. In Gwinnett County, these normally include county, county bond, the detention center bond, schools, school bond, recreation and cities (where applicable).

One "mill" equals $1.00 of property taxes for every $1,000 of assessed valuation. The rates of several taxing authorities usually combine to make up your total tax bill.

The chart below shows millage rates for unincorporated Gwinnett County and for incorporated (city) areas billed by Gwinnett County.

**Buford city taxes pay for the operation of the Buford City School District.

County Millage Rate
This tax helps to pay for county government operations and projects.
School Millage Rate
This pays for the everyday operations of schools located in Gwinnett County.  
School Bond Millage Rate
The school bond portion of the millage rate helps to pay off debt generated when new schools are built. 
Recreation Millage Rate
This portion of the millage rate helps pay for parks and other recreation services. 
City (if billed by Gwinnett County) Millage Rate

If you reside in Berkeley Lake, Grayson, or Peachtree Corners, this number will reflect the millage rate of your city taxes. For properties in other cities or in unincorporated Gwinnett, this rate will be zero.
